Adding CursorAdapters

If you have existing CursorAdapters that you have created in Visual FoxPro, you can add them to the Data Builder. Then, you will need to set them up in the Data Builder. This section tells you how to set up CursorAdapters that you add to the Data Builder.

Normally, the CursorAdapters in an existing class library will be automatically added to the Data Builder when you add the class library to the Data Builder. However, you would have CursorAdapters to add to the Data Builder if you created the CursorAdapters through Visual FoxPro outside VPM Enterprise after you had already added the CursorAdapters’ class library to the Data Builder.

Ø To add CursorAdapters to the Data Builder

1.   On the Data Builder List page select the “CursorAdapters” entry under the name of the class library that contains the the CursorAdapters you want to add.

2.   Click Add on the List page. VPM Enterprise displays the Add CursorAdapter dialog.

The Add dialog lets you find the CursorAdapters in the current class library that you want to add to the Data Builder.

3.   When you find a CursorAdapter to add, highlight it and click the Select button or double-click the CursorAdapter name. The CursorAdapter’s name will appear in the Selected CursorAdapters list at the bottom of the Add dialog.

4.   If you want to add all the CursorAdapters in the class library, click the Select All button. VPM Enterprise will display the names of all the CursorAdapters in the class library in the Selected CursorAdapters list at the bottom of the Add dialog.

5.   If you want to remove a CursorAdapter from the Selected CursorAdapters list, highlight the CursorAdapter and click the Remove button or just double-click the CursorAdapter. Click the Remove All button to remove all CursorAdapters from the Selected CursorAdapters list.

6.   When all the CursorAdapters you want to add are displayed on the Selected CursorAdapters list, click OK. VPM Enterprise displays a dialog asking you to confirm that you want to add the CursorAdapters to the Data Builder. Click Yes to let VPM Enterprise add the CursorAdapters to the Data Builder.

Tip: After you add a CursorAdapter to the Data Builder, be sure to set it up in the Data Builder — see the “Setting Up an Added CusorAdapter” section below.

CursorAdapter Data Imported from a Class Library

When you add a CursorAdapter to the Data Builder, the Data Builder imports the CursorAdapter structure and all field properties.

To Set Up an Added CursorAdapter

The process of setting up a CursorAdapter that you add to the Data Builder is basically the same as setting up a new CursorAdapter that you create in the Data Builder. Therefore, to set up an added CursorAdapter, you will be following the steps in To create & set up a CursorAdapter in the Data Builder.

7.   Open & Check CursorAdapter Builder: Select the CursorAdapter you’ve added on the Data Builder List page and click the Designer button. Go to step 3 in the To create & set up a CursorAdapter in the Data Builder. Open the CursorAdapter Builder and check that the CursorAdapter has selections set in the CursorAdapter Builder as described in steps 4 to 6 of that section. Close the CursorAdapter Builder and close and save in the Class Designer.

8.   Steps 9 – 13: To complete the set up of the added CursorAdapter, follow the instructions in steps 9 through 13 of the To create & set up a CursorAdapter in the Data Builder.
