Application <Prefix> File Names

VPM Enterprise populates an application’s project directories with files that have application-specific file names. Positions 2 through 4 of a file name contain 3 characters that identify the application to which the file belongs. These 3 characters are called the “application prefix”.

Throughout the VPME documentation references are made to file names that have “<Prefix> “ starting in position two. For example, a file name might be shown as S<Prefix>FMAIN. The <Prefix> is just a placeholder that shows where the application prefix belongs.

Tip: Project files that are system data files do not use the application prefix. Instead, such files use a prefix that identifies the database in which the file resides (either SVPM or SDATA.
