Visual SourceSafe will save information about the projects you create with VPM Enterprise in a database. Every user who needs to access a VPM Enterprise project under source control will need to have access to the Visual SourceSafe database. Therefore, you need an installation of Visual SourceSafe and the database on a server that every user can access.
We recommend that you set up a computer that every ProMatrix Source Control Kit user can access whenever needed to act as the Visual SourceSafe server. Then, the Visual SourceSafe database that maintains information about shared projects would be maintained on the Visual SourceSafe server.
Tip – Single Users: If you are a single user not working in a multi-developer environment, you would normally want to keep the Visual SourceSafe database on your own computer.
